I was able to travel this way again... but reached many months too late. I'd really hoped to be able to see David once again. Not being able to do so is one of life's losses.

It felt very bad to learn of his last journey from so far away, but it was worse to get here and realize this so directly. One keeps quiet for so long only to have to finally pay inevitable condolences.

David was special because he realized his own good fortune and cared to bring some of it the lives of those he knew and met.
The next time I come across him, he will be as he was when I knew him, restored to health and happiness eternally.
